Continuano a salutare - addio, addio i binari gelati. Questo vento m’è entrato dentro, fino in fondo, risuona fatto ghiaccio. Mi sono innamorata dei fantasmi. Di loro mi posso fidare arrivano sempre. |
The wind near the tracks is too fierce. I’ve been waiting for a train to arrive carrying my parents, my lover, the dolls I buried close to the house and couldn’t find. A freight train passes, loaded with miles of coal. The black cars rattle, they will echo for hours. And the faceless conductor waves a lantern: it’s getting dark, it’s time to return to the place you began. A child whispers into the night: which is the train that takes me back? The lantern just swings. Her parents watch from a distant station. They keep waving goodbye goodbye as I bend down to caress the freezing tracks. This wind has settled deep in me, its echoes turned to ice. I have fallen in love with ghosts. I can trust them they always arrive. |
